Things I’ve Noticed in My Travels through Texas

Disclaimer: I only drove on I-35 from Oklahoma City to Dallas and US 114/287 from Dallas to Wichita Falls and ultimately Amarillo.

  1. People here really like driving the new mustang

  2. Texas roadways are impeccably marked. Really other states should follow. Their roads just make sense. When you drive enough you start to appreciate this.

  3. Texas is HUGE. I mean if your from Cali maybe this doesn’t apply but I don’t think you can really appreciate how big this state is until you’ve driven it. I have crossed some states in the time it took me to drive from Dallas to Amarillo. Look at a map. That’s not a big portion of the state.

  4. Texas is VAST not just huge. When you look out the window driving you can see for miles. Its like being on an ocean and looking at the horizon.

  5. You get the impression that speeding is a real, real bad idea. Not a single Texan drives more than five above the speed limit.

  6. The interstate has special exits for adult video “arcades”, like rest areas. I couldn’t tell you much more than they advertise free coffee.
