Teaching your children properly about stereotypes
Scene: Lady and her child are at the dog park as I arrive
Lady: [Child's Name Redacted], stay away from that dog it will bite you
Me: I'm sorry but I couldn't help but overhear what you said to you daughter. Did you by chance contemplate the lesson you are teaching her? Do you also instruct her that all muslims are terrorists, all black men are gang members or that since I look jewish (and am) that I'm cheap? All of which are false. Stereotypes are based in some fact but are horrendously over-extrapolated. They are not in themselves fact. You should instead teach your daughter about your ignorance and stupidity. It so happens my dog is very sweet and just because you watched a special on television about Pit Bulls does not mean mine is aggressive.
Lady: (Looks at me in disbelief yet has no response).
Lady and Daughter: (They Leave)
Me: That's a great way to raise your child

Scene: Its 7am, I have just woke up, tossed on a zip up and let Nola out the hotel room. I don't walk down with her since the grass is right outside and she is a big girl. Nola, post-pee, looks up and sees woman 50 ft away. she looks at me and looks the back.
Woman: Shoo. Shoo (accompanied by flying hand motions)
Nola: (Goes bolting towards woman)
Woman: *Screams*
Me: Nola get back here
Woman: *Screams*
Nola: (Now out of site has chased this poor woman around the corner of the hotel)
Me: Nola, get back here
Nola: (turns the corner and looks at me)
Woman: (Runs and jumps onto raised garden in hotel parking lot)
Nola: (bolts after woman, again this time circling the raised garden)
Woman: *Screams* Shoo Shoo
Me: Nola get over here right now!
Nola: (Turns around and starts walking towards me)
Woman: Shoo! Shoo!

Things I've Noticed in My Travels through Texas
Disclaimer: I only drove on I-35 from Oklahoma City to Dallas and US 114/287 from Dallas to Wichita Falls and ultimately Amarillo. People here really like driving the new mustang Texas roadways are impeccably marked. Really other states should follow. Their roads just make sense. When you drive enough you start to appreciate this. Texas is HUGE. I mean if your from Cali maybe this...

I Now Know What It Feels Like to be Robbed
And it really makes me want to find the guy and well…the interweb is publics so I will keep my thoughts to myself since finding the man is unlikely. The hotel parking lot, adjacent to both the hotel and the Ford center, home of the Thunder, has no cameras. A fast, fuzzy, full-text index using Redis →
Redis is an awesome database for implementing different types of IR. Really cool someone got around to this. dhotson: Not bad. It turns out that implementing a full-text database on top of Redis is relatively simple. Looks like it’s pretty easy to build an inverted index using Redis’s set data structure.
